I am Diane Lang, Principal of Anna Yates School. I am an experienced educator who has supported students, teachers and community stakeholders in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Francisco and West Contra Costa Unified School Districts. I am pleased to continue my commitment to teaching, learning and leading our student population to their very highest level of academic and social achievements in Emeryville.
Anna Yates School is a Pre-K through 8th grade school, housing both the elementary and middle school. Our staff includes a full time librarian, science, music and art teachers. We have a gardening instructor on staff who provides instruction on edible gardening and how the food chain works.
We are continuing our focus on learning the Common Core State Standards through the use of Eureka Math and Ready Common Core Language Arts. In addition, students are engaging in other units of study, which give them access to complex problems and text and helps them build their own content knowledge. One of our main areas of academic focus are making claims and supporting them with evidence. This is an important skill that will serve students greatly as they move throughout their academic careers.
I along with Emery Unified School District am committed to providing each student a rigorous education in a welcoming, safe school environment that supports student learning and where there is respect and engagement with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs.
