Black History Month
The Pan-African Flag
Every February, the Emery Unified School District proudly flies the Pan-African flag over campus. The history and symbolism of the Pan-African flag should be acknowledged and celebrated as a representation of the contributions that Black people have made to history. Iconography is an important part of many cultures. The Pan-African flag has established a precedent for how Black Americans can identify their specific traditions and history. For many in the Black community, the flag is a symbol of pride, unification, and change making.

Gay Pride Month

The Emery Unified School District strives to make every student feel safe on campus and to teach our students the need to be open to the experience of others. Every June, the district proudly flies the Pride flag over the campus and the Board of Trustees proclaims by resolution that June is Pride Month.
